CBD Dosing Guide

When it comes to dosing CBD oil drops for pets, it's important to start with a low dosage and gradually increase it based on your pet's response and needs. We have detailed below our advised general dosing guide to help you get started with your pet.

STEP ONE
Determine the potency: Check the label of your CBD oil drops to determine the concentration of CBD per millilitre (ml). This will help you calculate the appropriate dosage.

STEP TWO

Consider your pet's weight: The weight of your pet plays a crucial role in determining the right dosage. As a general guideline, a low dose would be 0.1mg to 0.5mg of CBD per kg of body weight, medium dose 0.5mg to 1mg of CBD per kg of body weight, and a high dose would be 1mg to 2mg per kg animal weight.

STEP THREE

Start low and observe: Begin with the lowest recommended dosage and monitor your pet's response over several days. Observe any changes in behaviour, mood, or symptoms you are targeting.

STEP FOUR

Gradually increase if needed: If you don't see the desired effects, you can gradually increase the dosage every few days until you find the optimal dose. It's important to make small adjustments and closely monitor your pet's well-being during this process.

STEP FIVE

Split the dosage: If needed, you can split the daily dosage into two equal servings, given once in the morning and once in the evening, to ensure a consistent level of CBD in your pet's system.

STEP SIX

Consult with a veterinarian: It's always a good idea to consult with a veterinarian before introducing CBD oil to your pet's regimen. They can provide personalised guidance based on your pet's specific needs, health conditions, and any medications they may be taking.

Dosing at a glance

Suggested starting dose = 0.5mg/kg

A sensible starting dosage for dogs and cats is 0.5mg of CBD per kg of animal weight. This is considered a medium dose. The chart below shows how many drops are needed to give this starting dosage based on Phyte Club CBD Oil bottles which are supplied in 10ml bottles. A full dropper is 0.5ml and contains about 12 drops. You can increase your dog's dosage up to 2-3 times the amount if you are not seeing any results.

Remember, each pet is unique, and the optimal dosage may vary. By starting low and gradually adjusting, you can find the right CBD dosage to support your pet's well-being effectively.
